MANDATE OF BNYC
The mandate of the Botswana National Youth Council is primarily to facilitate, coordinate and implement youth focused activities in the non-governmental sector. BNYC is responsible for lobbyintg and advocating for development policies and programmes affecting the youth, as well as give advice to government on matters relating to youth development. The council’s core business in line with its mandate are- Advocating and lobbying, Capacity building, Research, Information dissemination and networking, Resource mobilization and adolescent sexual reproduction Health (ASRH). These are key thematic areas in youth empowerment and development as outlined in the BNYC strategic plan of 2009- 2013 and emphasized in the national youth policy 1996. |

CORPORATE PROFILE
The Botswana National Youth Council was established in 1974 through a presidential directive (CAB9/74). BNYC is the coordinating body of non-governmental organizations dealing with youth matters.
STRUCTURE OF BNYC
Botswana National Youth Council has fifty-one district youth council and thirty four affiliates. These structures are used to assist in the channeling of youth programmes to ordinary young people. The highest decision making body of Botswana National Youth Council structures is the annual general assembly, which convenes every twelve months.
